Less than a month to go, until Descendants 2 gets released. The film will be shown on five networks on 21 July 2017. The film is one of the most anticipated films of the year; as well as, one of the most anticipated Disney TV films, ever. They keep on releasing teasers to keep the fans excited, and yesterday saw them drop a sword fighting sneak peak video on their YouTube Channel.
Not only does this short video clip show our favourite stars sword fighting; not only do we hear their thoughts on the scenes and how they learned the choreography; but we also get a new announcement. At the very end of the video, we are told that Descendants 2: It’s Going Down – Behind The Scenes Special, will be shown on the Disney Channel at 7:30 pm on 7 July 2017!
Watch The Sword Fighting Video From Descendants 2 Here:
The video opens up with Thomas Doherty and Dylan Playfair introducing us to the sword fighting that is going on. They are set to play Harry Hook and Gil, respectfully; these characters are the sons of Captain Hook and Gaston. Then we watch some sword fighting between all the characters.
Thomas Doherty announces that they’ve “just started filming ‘It’s Going Down'”, which China Anne McClain smiles at as he continues with “it’s so much fun”.
Next up, we watch Sofia Carson dressed up as her returning character, Evie – daughter of The Evil Queen; talking to the camera as if she’s being interviewed. She says: “It’s not only dance, and choreo, and singing. We learned how to fence.” This is where the video shows clips of the stars learning how to fence; during these scenes, the stars are out of their costumes, proving that time and effort were put into these fencing classes.
Dove Cameron speaks next, she will be playing her returning main character, Mal – daughter of Maleficent. She says: “Weeks and weeks and weeks of rehearsal. So much work and sweat and tears and messing up and ‘You got this, you got this, you got this, I trip every time I do that move too.’ It’s beautiful. You wouldn’t want it any other way. That’s the best part.”
As the video clips continuing, Sofia Carson talks once again; she says: “The second we call action, the adrenaline just kind of goes up the roof, and everything is just so amplified and so exciting; and the energy is almost electric because we’ve prepped so long, and I’ve waited for this moment so long and to be here is really exciting.”
Then the evil character comes on screen to talk. China Anne McClain will be playing Uma – daughter of Ursula. She is revengeful because Mal left her on The Lost Isle, while she went to Auradon in the first film. Dressed up as Uma, China Anne McClain says: “There’s so much happening in this sequence like sword fights and full choreography. I cannot wait for wait for you to see it.”
Descendants 2 “It’s Going Down”
This entire clip is in promotion of the new song “It’s Going Down” which we expect will be released on 7 July 2017 to coincide with the release of the Behind The Scenes Special that will be shown on the Disney Channel. We presume that a music video for it will also be released soon.
The song is performed by Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, China Anne McClain, Mitchell Hope, Thomas Doherty, and Dylan Playfair. If the previously released songs, “Ways To Be Wicked” and “What’s My Name“, are anything to go by, as well as their respective music videos; then “It’s Going Down” will be one catchy song full of sword fighting.
Descendants 2 Teasers
Disney has really gone all out for promotion when it comes to Descendants 2. Ever since the announcement that a sequel will be coming, we have had a lot of teasers to excite the fans.
We’ve had an “Under The Sea” teaser trailer, a behind the scene video, a “Long Live Evil” trailer, two promotional posters, as well as another teaser trailer.
Then we were told about the release date and the news that it will be shown across five networks! Next up was the world premiere of “Ways To Be Wicked” at the RDMA’s. Finally the official trailer got released, which definitely sent a buzz amongst the fans.
Another performance of “Ways To Be Wicked” took place on Dancing With The Stars. It was then time for China Anne McClain, Thomas Doherty, and Dylan Playfair to grab attention with the release of the lyric video to “What’s My Name”. This was then followed up by a teaser of the music video for the song; before the actual music video got released.
As 21 July 2017 starts to approach very quickly, we expect an even bigger push for this film. The album is expected to drop on the same day as the premiere of the film. No announcements have been made about the release of the film in other countries; we are hoping a UK release date gets announced soon.
