Ekin-Su has a trick when it comes to sweets. "I have a habit, I bite the cookie and put it back," she told Gemma Owen on Love Island. "I bite it and put it back but I own up to it.
''If I don't get the workout [done] my mental health will go; mental health is why I work out – and to look good," Ekin-Su tells Women's Health. "It's almost like a drug! After I do cardio I feel like I can rule the world…even if it's 3am I have to fit [exercise] in because otherwise, the next day, I will feel like crap."
Ekin-Su maintains that exercise and her relationship with Davide Saclimenti go hand in hand. "When I'm working, I have to make sure there's a gym nearby. And me and Davide, if we don't train for a week we go crazy…we'll probably have an argument," she tells Women's Health. "If we need alone time he trains and I train separately [and then] we're fine after. Like, after an argument, you have to train."
"I think you are what you eat, and you are what you put in your mind. I want to feed myself with protein. I want to feed myself with green leafy vegetables and drink plenty of water. When you eat well, you feel well…but I also want to have my chocolate," she tells Women's Health. However, she doesn't restrict herself. "Carbs are fine! Chocolate is fine! Having a drink is fine. It's all about moderation."
Ekin-Su loves herself no matter how much she weighs. "I used to be a size 16 at school and I've been a size six and I've remained confident [at every size]," she tells Women's Health. "It's almost like the confidence was inside me – whether I was bigger or skinnier…it's something to do with the way you accept who you are."
