The brothers show off their impeccable dancing skills with the help of gold-medalist Laurie Hernandez and NCAA champion gymnasts Nia Dennis and JaNay Honest.
Fresh off of their hurdles competition, the brothers make their way to the gymnasium to meet with gold-medalist Laurie Hernandez and NCAA champion gymnasts Nia Dennis and JaNay Honest to learn about floor routines.
Like with the hurdles, Kevin once again feels like he has the upper hand because he has 2-3 years of gymnastics experience. As he tells the girls that he placed 13th in a state competition, Nick and Joe tease him for ranking himself higher each time he tells the story.
The girls decide to teach them a 30-second floor routine that includes tumbles, leaps, and dancing. In true sibling rivalry fashion, they make fun of each other as they spectate one another’s practices. Nick and Joe mock Kevin for coaching the coaches, while Joe and Kevin gossip about Nick being too talkative.
For the second event, the brothers are once again confident in their potential wins. Kevin has his eyes on a second win, and Joe and Nick are sure that they will score their first gold medals. For this competition, they are judged by Dennis, Honest, and five-time gold medalist Nastia Liukin.
To the tune of “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by the Scorpions, Kevin starts his routine off with a bang by performing a straddle jump and roundoff backhand spring. He certainly impresses the judges after scoring a solid 9 out of 10!
Joe chooses “The Four Seasons Summer” Concerto by Vivaldi for his graceful routine. During the practice, Joe mentioned that he couldn’t do tumbles and roles like his brothers. Therefore, he relies strictly on his pizzazz by dancing with a ribbon. He scores a 7.5 out of 10, putting him in second place.
For the final performance of the day, Nick performs “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel. He gets off to a great start by combining a roundoff, forward roll, and switch leap. After his creative routine, he takes home the gold by scoring a 9.3 out of 10. The brothers walk off the gymnasium floor with bouquets of flowers to prepare for their final event: BMX racing!
